The Return of Kesha!

It has already been two years since my friend Kesha Ram sat down with me to come up with a vision and brand for her State Representative campaign & now that she's completed her first term in the capitol building its time for another round of campaign literature, posters, ads, & more!

Burgers & Poets

My girlfriend's father has been putting on successful jazz nights at the family restaurant, Bay Burger in Sag Harbor, NY. He's now looking to add poets to the mix and here are a couple flyers for the cause:

The Last Detail

The Last Detail is a Hal Ashby film whose modern DVD cover sadly does not stand up to the feel of the 1973 movie, which is why I wanted to remake it.

Jack Nicholson plays a fantastically crude Navy guard set with the task of transporting another sailor to Naval Prison for petty ($40) theft. So he decides to take some detours along the way. However there's much more to the movie, as one slightly wordy reviewer says:
"The Last Detail" is a sadly overlooked but superb blend of pathos, ribald bittersweet humor, hard-edged '70s realism and insightful and subtle human drama. A work that says something to all of us by merely focusing upon a small "detail" of a sadly overlooked and unappreciated decade that was alternately (and simultaneously) bleak yet hopeful."
So here is my attempt to get all those vocab words into a DVD cover that I'd proudly put on my staff picks shelf at Waterfront Video.

Visual Reminder

My friend and co-worker told me he would need a visual reminder that he was covering my shift at my other job (Waterfront Video). So here it is, hopefully he won't forget.

Waterfront Video: Status Report

Today in the Burlington Free Press ran an article called "Video stores fade out". However, Waterfront Video is still alive, kickin', and serving those who want to browse, chat, and take part in their local community, both monetarily & socially. I much more prefer a recent Boston Globe article, which had this to say:
"When a video store dies, it takes a piece of the community with it. That’s one fewer place to wander from case to case near a stranger or your neighbor, to spend an evening grazing for something to watch instead of watching the movie itself. That’s one fewer link to ourselves."
So here is a poster/advertisement for Waterfront Video.
Oh, and I love Saul Bass.

Lily Landes Photography

I have the great honor of being the boyfriend of an amazingly talented photographer. After building her portfolio on flickr, she was asked by the curator of Nectar's to showcase some of her photos on the walls of the restaurant for the month of July. Below is a flyer & postcard I made for my sweet.

All The Very Many Muches

Another project just for fun, this time a fake film poster for the story of my wonderful parents. A piece born out of my love for the photo of my mom & dad right after successfully painting their first home together, you may not get the title, but don't worry about it...my parents will.

VT Freedom To Marry vs. Gov. Douglas

My roommate, friend, and Burlington politico, Nick Carter is currently working hard to gain marriage equality here in Vermont. Yesterday, upon hearing the news of Governor Douglas' plan to veto the bill, I threw together a little green flyer for his organization, VT Freedom To Marry. Seconds later I got a call from Nick saying they needed some black & white handouts whipped up to inform the public of rallies this weekend.

Check out all the info at their website, www.vtfreetomarry.org.

A look at some little birthday cards I made for my sister's 28th.
Mmm, transparent circles.

Sundora Farm

After being inspired by a great interview about the future of agriculture in the U.S. on NPR (listen here), I got in contact with my friend Ben Crockett who is in the process of starting a Community Supported Agriculture farm in Randolph, VT. Here is a potential promotional piece for his future venture, Sundora Farm:

Check out their blog for more info: http://sundorafarm.blogspot.com

Happy Birthday, Jim

Here are a few designs made for my friend who is throwing her dad a surprise birthday party in a few weeks. Hopefully he doesn't stumble upon my blog...

Updates!

I have been busy doing part-time/freelance work for Delta Marketing Group in South Burlington as well as a handful of other projects, but look for some fun updates in the very near future!

Also, visit Delta Marketing for a look at the type of collateral I'm working on; from national Unicel brochures to a local police station's business cards, it's been a great learning experience:

Inspiration & Experimentation

After looking at the gorgeous and unique visuals of Mira Ruido I was inspired to make a piece in the same vein of collage, black & white photography, & abstract objects. Added to the design is a logo idea for Lily Landes Photography.
